The European Pipeline Research Group (EPRG) has officially released the Updated Guidelines on the Assessment of Defects in Transmission Pipelines (Girth Welds – Revision 2024).

This revision reflects years of joint industry research and technical committee assessments, ensuring that pipeline operators have the most accurate tools for maintaining infrastructure integrity.

Key Updates in Revision 2024

The latest guidelines provide refined methodologies for evaluating girth weld defects, incorporating:

  1. Modern NDT Integration: Better alignment with advanced Non-Destructive Testing technologies.
  2. Material Compatibility: Enhanced data for high-strength steel grades.
  3. Safety Factors: Optimized assessment models based on recent full-scale test results.

These guidelines are now included in the most widely used industry standards across our 27 member companies.
